Hi Paul, Someone highlighted to me regarding something called whitelisting, what is it. Should I be worried about it.

I have already ordered the product but can cancel it 😞

Hi,

As far as I know, there is no whitelist in your notebook, or I wouldn't have recommended you upgrade the wireless card.

HP got rid of the whitelists sometime in 2013.

Paul - I have bough this laptop in August 2013, I hope I am in safe hands, Please comment.

Is there a way I can get a confirmation on this because HP tech support is not able to help me on this topic 😢

Thanks for everything that you are doing...

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if the notebook has a whitelist or not, or exactly when it went away.

I still think you are safe.

There was another forum member that had a 15-e something PC, and he was able to install a different wlan card.

See this discussion...

Basically I just concerned because I have ordered HP Part # 724935-001 & not HP Part # 724935-005

I just need to have knowledge on this...

You should be fine with that one too.

Paul - I am curios and for my knowledge, what is the difference between the two?

As a local dealer highlighted that HP Part # 724935-005 is is compatible with my laptop & HP Part # 724935-001 is not compatible with my laptop.

Lot of inputs coming in you see

Unfortunately, that I would not know.

If you enter either part number in the box at the link below, it will list all the models the part was used in.

That does not necessarily mean that the part you got will not work, unless there is some kind of country restriction, which I don't see for either part #.

http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

You will see that your model series is not listed for either part #.
