HP 15-bw082nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I want to buy the HP 15-bw082nd, But the wifi card doesn't support 5Ghz.

I can get a good deal on the laptop, but the lack of 5Ghz makes it less attractive.

I know it is possible to replace the card on certain laptops, it is also possible on this one?

Thanks in advance.

It is ok to install Intel wireless card to AMD machines. The series supports this. For the second antenna, you can buy elsewhere but adding to your machine will require many hard works because antennas will wrap around laptop screen,

The series supports following cards (the ones in red support 5GHz and are safe to use):

  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11AC 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) part # 901229-855
  • Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter part #  927230-855
  • Realtek RTL 8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi Adapter part # 927235-855
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapterpart #   863934-855

Unfortunately your machine currently only has one antenna. You need 2 antenna to get full benefit of new wifi card.

Thank you for the quick response and help.

The laptop is AMD based, will that cause issues with the Intel Wifi cards?

And is it then also possible to add a second antenna?

Thanks in advance.
