A recent Windows 10 update deleted the network driver and now we no longer have wireless capability. Attempted to install sp77954.exe. The install appears to go without a hitch. Get successful completion as per the final prompt after install. It says to check log file for details. After install device manager shows no network driver.
Where is the sp77954.exe log file located? Does anyone have any ideas on how to force the install of the network driver?
Thanks,
jesse

Hi, Jesse:
That was the right driver you tried.
The parts list for your model notebook indicates that it comes with the Intel 7265 AC wifi adapter.
See if the latest driver directly from Intel works for you...

You're very welcome, Jesse.
Seems odd to me that the wifi was working fine prior to the Windows update.
While it is not impossible there is a hardware issue, there may be a software issue.
I don't know how you feel about clean installing W10, but you may want to consider that option.
You can make a system image of your current installation by using the free Macrium Reflect software.
And you can do a separate backup of your file folders in your user profile.
https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
Put the image on a portable hard drive, and the software will also have you create a rescue DVD or flash drive that you can use to access the system image.
Then you can clean install W10 and see if the wifi adapter shows up. If it does, then you can copy your folders to your new user profile.
If it doesn't, then you can restore your current installation.
To clean install W10, you can use the Media Creation Tool.
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool. Make the 64 bit installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.
W10 will find the product key in the BIOS, install and will automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
If the wifi card does not reappear, no matter what, then the first troublshooting step you can try is to remove and firmly reseat the widi adapter. Try to leave the antenna cables connected when you do that to avoid having to mess with the delicate antenna cables more than you have to.
Sometimes the contacts get oxidized and the electrical contact is lost.
If that doesn't work, then you could try replacing the wifi card.
Here is the link to the service manual. The wifi card R & R procedures can be found in chapter 5.
