Cannot connect to WiFi? (Stays in a loop of "Authenticating" and "Disconnected")

So,today I opened this exact device years later to face an issue which just appeared.I just couldn't connect to Wi-Fi.My immediate choice was to download drivers but it did not work.Any solution?Thanks,everybody.

Hi:

Make sure that you are running SP3 on XP because SP2 does not support WPA2 security unless you ran the patch for it, which is no longer available.

Then update the BCM wifi driver to this version and restart the PC.

You may want to completely disconnect from the network and reestablish your connection.

The issue you are reporting seems to be some kind of security authentication problem between the router and the wifi card.

Hello again experts,

I am indeed running SP3 with the Broadcom Wireless Driver and now I got progress.I just still don't have WiFi and what I mean is that "connection is limited or none".About that security error between host and router,what should I do?I think the router is just too modern for WinXP.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

With XP, SP3 and that latest XP BCM driver, the latest WPA2 security support should work with any router.

You tried re-establishing the connection and re-entering the your router's security code?

I have an ancient Dell notebook PC older than yours, running XP SP3 that I fire up once every now and then, and have a very expensive router that is only a couple of years old and it works fine with WPA2 security.

News:

I can indeed connect to free WiFi connections (no WPA-PSK things)and use them.But idk why I can't use my main WiFi router connection.If you have an email I can send images of the status.

The usual router security setting is WPA2 Personal.

It might not be a very clear image but:

CYTACD50 -> Main WiFi router conn. (WPA)

Huawei P Smart -> Hotspot I ran to see if I could connect to wifi. (Free)

I can browse the web whilst being on the hotspot.I might try removing the code from the router and then adding it again after connecting to it.
