Hello everyone! Forgive me if this has been asked already but I couldn't find a straight answer on this. I recently bought an HP Envy X360, the 15in version. Had an intel i5, if that matters. Anyway, the laptop would drop the wifi signal intermittently, and then constantly. It got so bad I had to send it back to HP. I replaced it with an ASUS Vivobook s15 530 but the sound quality from that thing is straight up garbage, had to send it back too.

Thing is, I loved that HP Envy. Do you guys think I got a lemon, or is this wifi issue a real problem with HP?

Hi:

That is too broad of a question.

If your notebook came with a Realtek Wi-Fi adapter, those may have multiple issues as you described.

I have 2 HP notebook (255 G7's) with the Realtek 8821CE Wi-Fi adapter and those have worked for me just fine over the last couple of years.

However, those cards are known to have major issues.  I've been lucky.

You can read the hundreds of posts on this forum regarding the Realtek 8821 and 8822 Wi-Fi cards and their laundry list of problems.

If your notebook came with an Intel Wi-Fi card, those normally have no issues at all.

I have a HP envy notebook from 2020 with an Intel AX200 Wi-Fi adapter and the Wi-Fi has performed flawlessly for over two years now.

Keeping the Wi-Fi drivers up to date is paramount.

Realtek is always releasing updated drivers to fix the bugs in those lousy cards.

Bottom line...buy a notebook that has an Intel Wi-Fi adapter if you can.
