The key doesn't matter.

There is only one key in the M.2 Wi-Fi card slot so if the card has one notch or two, any M.2 card that has one or two notches will fit in the slot.

Be200?  You might be pushing your luck.

There are no posts where someone successfully installed an Intel BE200 in the model series, but there have been mixed results on the BE200 working in newer notebooks--some no problem at all, and on some, the Wi-Fi works but not the Bluetooth and visa versa.

If you are good at working with the thin delicate antenna wires and whatnot, I say, go for it.

It's great if it works, but I don't know how many times those wires will let you remove and replace them if it doesn't.

The older HMC form factor cards had much stronger and larger antenna wires and even those were pretty small.

If you want to try the BE200, you have to get the non-vPro version.

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it came with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 combination adapter.

You can try this Wi-Fi 6E card, but no one can 100% guarantee that it will work.

Unfortunately, the manual does not indicate the key on the business end of the card. I was entertaining an even more ambitious solution like wifi 7. however, the key sequence is not the same, or is it?

Absolutely! I wanted to share some insights on ordering the card. There are two part numbers, on supports the V pro and one does not:

This guide will show other techs/bloggers/customers how to tell the difference between the cards, as you indicated to me that I needed the non-v pro version.

The nice thing is that the part number is stamped right on the card itself or labeled on the front.

Thanks for all your help on this matter, Paul!

Hi Paul and HP bloggers!

The recommendation Paul made was correct. In hact, I did a clean install of win 11 on a new Sansung  SSD after installing the new wifi card and both blue tooth and wifi worked fine. In "status" after cli king the wifi connection it showed 2.3 gbits and rather range of the Bluetooth was pretty amazing for such a cheap upgrade. I had ordered a new base because mine had a cracked corner an Igot a silver one instead of the gold one. I used it anyway, assuring myself it would be easy to spot if someone tried to steal it at Starbucks . Hey Paul and HP board thanks for your wonderful support!!

You're very welcome, and thanks for letting us know your notebook's Wi-Fi card upgrade project was a success.

Which card did you end up installing--the Intel AX210 or the Intel BE200?

Cheers,

Paul

Since you informed us the AX210 had a more probable success rate, and at the time I had  wifi6e router, I went with the AX210. What's confusing is wifi speeds themselves. I get up to 500 mgbts down but over 8 mgbts upload. Wifi is the weirdest animal of all.

HP Recommended

Yes, Wi-Fi download/upload speed is pretty unpredictable.

I have the Spectrum 400 MB internet service.

I think that is the standard service nowadays.

However, I could never understand why the upload speeds never exceeded 11 MBPS when the download speeds came pretty close to the 400 MBPS service I was paying for.

Turns out that the 400 MBPS is only for the download speed.

The upload speed (unless you pay more for faster upload service) is capped at 10 MBPS.
