I recently got a laptop that cannot connect to the network. I assume that it was factory reset because I choose the country, keyboard type, and then cannot get past the network setup screen. I have tried downloading the wireless drivers to no avail so clearly I am just not getting the right one.

Hi @EvanScott29,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed description, you're right to suspect a missing network driver, especially if your HP Envy laptop was factory reset and now can't get past the network setup screen.

Here's How to Fix It

🔧 Step 1: Download the Correct Wi-Fi Driver

Your HP Envy likely uses the Realtek RTL8852BE Wi-Fi 6 adapter, which requires a specific driver to function during setup.

Step 2: Install the Driver Offline

Since you're stuck at the network setup screen, follow these steps:

  1. Use another PC to download the driver .exe file from the link above.
  2. Copy it to a USB flash drive.
  3. Plug the USB into your HP Envy laptop.
  4. Press Shift + F10 at the network setup screen to open Command Prompt.
  5. Use notepad.exe in the command prompt to open File Explorer: notepad.exe

Then go to File > Open, navigate to the USB drive, and run the driver installer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Ok I got all the way to opening notepad, so thank you for that. Did File>Open and navigated to USB and found the driver, then once selected and click open, the only thing that occurs is it opens in "wingdings" within Notepad. I also just simply tried the "Install Driver" button found on the Connect Network screen to no avail.

Tried downloading two different drivers, listed below, thinking that it was the fact that I wasn't downloading the right driver. Although I will say, contained with in that folder, there is no .exe file to execute.

After I had notepad up, I also tried windows+x to bring up the start menu and was able to run both of the SPxxxxx files as well as pull up device manager and "add drivers" to no avail.
