pavilion dv9000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

since upgrading my hp pavilion dv9000 to windows 10 iv'e lost my wireless capability. it can only connect to the internet by wired connection now. its got a broadcom bcm94311 card installed, but no longer shows in device manager. instead it shows under network adaptors a  nvidia nforce networking controller. in device manager there is also 3 base system controllers with yellow triangles with an exclamation point in them also a coprocessor with a yellow triangle and exclamation point. i've tried to update them with no joy. HP no longer supports this laptop making matters even more difficult. The laptop came with nvidea graphics but also not showing in device manager. Searching for my laptop on HP support shows it's no longer supported and offers no drivers at all for my laptop. is there anything i can do to make it connect wirelessly at least? please help thank you

Hi:

Your PC is not supported by HP for W10, W8.1, W8 or W7.

I haven't read any reports of the Broadcom wifi adapter disappearing after the upgrade to W10.

Was the wifi adapter turned on during the upgrade?

If you post the full model number or product number of your notebook, I will give you the links to the Vista drivers you need for the coprocessor and base system devices,

Vista was the newest OS for which HP provided drivers.

What is showing up as a nvidia nforce networking controller, is the ethernet (wired) adapter.

After you provide the requested info, and while you are waiting for my reply with the drivers, see if you can get the wifi adapter to show up by doing this...

Make a bootable Ubuntu installer.

Download Ubuntu from the link below.

https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Here is a tutorial for how to make the bootable installer.

https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview

Boot from the installer and select the option to 'Try Ubuntu without installing.'

See if you can turn on the wifi adapter in Ubuntu.

If you can, shut down the PC, remove the installer and when you are back into Windows, the wifi should be working.

Also note that the dv9000 model series was plagued with overheating issues and those damaged the motherboard.

One of the most common problems was the wifi adapter completely disappears from the device manager due to the power to the slot it is plugged into is lost due to that part of the motherboard failing.

If you can't get the wifi to work, the only option would be to purchase a USB wifi adapter.

They make some pretty small ones that hardly stick out of the USB port and even come with Bluetooth...
