Have a new HP laptop and wireless printer that keeps going offline after maybe printing ok once. I have reset and reset printer, router, modem, and laptop for two days now. They are both on the same network, the computer recognizes the printer but can only manage to print once than back to resetting, reinstalling. My laptop has numerous errors all related to the printer, over 1,000 I think.

@swann2001vn, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 Printer Going Offline!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer is repeatedly going offline on a Windows 11 computer, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Printer Status
Ensure that the printer is ready to print:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and the power cord is securely connected.
- Ensure there is paper in the input tray.
- Verify that toner or ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink.
- Check for any error messages or blinking lights on the printer control panel, and resolve any displayed errors.
Connect to the Same Network
Verify that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same wireless network.
Restart Devices
Restart your printer, laptop, router, and modem as follows:
- Turn off all devices and unplug your router and modem.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Plug in the router and modem, and turn them back on.
- Turn on your laptop and printer.
Download and Install the Latest Printer Drivers
Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed:
- Visit the HP Customer Support website.
- Identify your printer model and navigate to the driver section.
- Download and install the latest printer driver for Windows 11.
Set the Default Printer
- On your Windows 11 computer, go to "Windows Settings."
- Select "Devices" and then click "Printers & scanners."
- Ensure the checkbox for "Let Windows manage my default printer" is not selected.
- From the list of printers, select the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720, click "Manage," and then click "Set as default."
Check Printer Port and Windows Services Status
- Open "Control Panel" and select "Devices and Printers."
- Right-click your printer and select "Printer properties."
- Go to the "Ports" tab and verify whether your printer uses a WSD port.
- If it does, ensure the status of the Windows Function Discovery services is set to "Running" and the Startup Type is "Automatic."
- If these services are not running, set their Startup Type to "Automatic" and start them.
- Return to "Devices and Printers," refresh the page (press F5), and check printer status again.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
