Your notebook does not have the required WWAN adapter which is an expensive option in order for the SIM card to work.

It's a physical piece of hardware which your PC does not have or you wouldn't be asking how to use a SIM card in your notebook.

Every Probook 640 G8 has a SIM card slot.

What 90% of them don't have is the WWAN adapter that is needed to connect to a cellular network.

All the SIM card does is authorize you to use your cellular provider's network.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Chapter 5, page31 has the supported WWAN adapter with the HP part number that is used in your notebook.

In order for the SIM card to work, your notebook must have the following WWAN adapter listed under the Network Adapters device manager category:

None that I know of.

We use eBay in the United States to find computer parts.

This card is located in the UK.
