Hi, I got the HP notebook 14 because it was cheap, but soon realized how bad of a laptop it is. It’s really slow and has many other issues but the main one, and the one I need help with is my connection to the WiFi. I’ll connect to any WiFi and seconds later it will disconnect. I’ll try reconnecting but the same thing happens. It happens with all WiFi and I already checked and changed my preferences and settings on my laptop and it still happens. Any suggestions? I also still have the base warranty, but not sure if they will do anything.

Hi.
That model wifi adapter along with the Realtek 8822BE wifi adapter are having major issues with dropping the wifi connection.
Recently a driver update was released on the Microsoft Update Catalog which supposedly fixes the problem.
I have zipped up and attached the driver below...You will have to manually install the driver.
04/12/2019, 2024.0.9.101
Unzip the file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager.
Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.
Click on the Realtek 8821 wifi adapter listed there.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.

Hi:
What model wifi adapter does your notebook have?
If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

Hi, @Paul_Tikkanen
Hope all is well. Anyway, I have been having the same problem with my loaner PC, which has the above-mentioned wifi module, for the last few days. It would disconnect from internet (about 3-4 times per hour) and to get it to connect again I would click on the small wifi icon in the lower right of the desktop, open the list of possible wifi connections and it would give the list again and reconnect automatically. Just opening the list would make it reconnect.
I mean I am not really using the loaner much more since it is ready for donation, however, it bothered me giving it away with such a problem.
Anyway since coming across your thread this morning I have had no more disconnects, so far. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.
regards,
David

Hi, @iomare
One other thing David, since you assist forum members on a daily basis...if someone has the RTL8822BE wifi card and reports the disconnecting issues (which they probably will), you would give them this driver instead, that I zipped up and attached below.
04/12/2019, 2024.0.8.105
It is a slightly older version than the one for the 8821, but the older one works better on the 8822 for some crazy reason, based on some feedback I have received by other forum members.

Paul
