Hp Envy 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, guys. I have Hp Envy 15t Notebook with Broadcom BCM43142 wi-fi adapter which is not working anymore. I want to upgrade it with a dual band wi-fi adapter. I read across the forum and found out that I can change my current adapter with some of these:

  • Broadcom BCM943142 802.11 bgn 1×1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter part # 792608-00
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter part # 793840-005
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1×1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter  part # 784644-005

Unfortunately the post is from 2017 and all of the above wi-fi adapters are old.

So my question is what model of wi-fi adapters should I buy for my notebook.
Thank you!

OK, great.

You can upgrade to this dual band AC wifi card...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP     Part # 710661-001

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon.

Search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...

Hi:

The service manual for your notebook does not even list that model wifi adapter as a supported card.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04409752

All 3 of the cards listed in chapter 3 of the manual are of the Half Mini Card (HMC) format.

If you want to upgrade the BCM card, you are going to have to open up the notebook and let me know how many antenna cables are connected to it...one or two.

If only one antenna cable, you will either have to replace it with the same model and part number (which should be on the card), or I can give you a single band with Bluetooth equivalent card you can use.

You can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure in chapter 6.

Thank you for the reply, I will open the Notebook tomorrow and will check the number of cables connected. Have a good day.

Hi:

Ok, the picture you posted shows that the card has two antenna terminals, but how many antenna cables were connected to it that you had to remove?

One or two?

Sorry, there were two antenna cables connected 🙂
