My Device HP elite book 840 G6 doesn't detect simcard despite the card being appropriately inserted, so I can't opt to use simcard for making calls or accessing internet, There is a dial up option but it does not connect since no option for using "cellular" for call and internet access.

Every Elitebook 840 G6 has a SIM card slot.
Your notebook does not have the optional and expensive WWAN adapter that is needed to connect to the cellular network.
All the SIM card does is authorize you to use your cellular provider's network.
In order for the SIM card to work, your notebook must have one of these WWAN adapters appearing in the device manager under the Network Adapters device manager category:
Intel® XMM™ 7262 LTE-Advanced Cat 6
Intel® XMM™ 7360 LTE-Advanced Cat 9
Intel® XMM™ 7560 LTE-Advanced Pro Cat 16
