Hi @HelloHeyHello,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion Laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, you can still connect to a wired internet connection and add another monitor using alternative methods. Here's what you can do.

Wired Internet Connection:

USB to Ethernet Adapter:

  • Purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter.
  • Plug the USB end into an available USB port on your laptop.
  • Connect an Ethernet cable from the router to the Ethernet port on the adapter.

Docking Station:

  • If you plan on connecting multiple peripherals, including Ethernet, you might consider a docking station that has an Ethernet port. This is a more comprehensive solution.

Adding Another Monitor:

HDMI or DisplayPort:

  • Most modern laptops, including HP Pavilions, come with an HDMI or DisplayPort.
  • Connect one end of an HDMI or DisplayPort cable to your laptop.
  • Connect the other end to the HDMI or DisplayPort input on the monitor.

USB to HDMI or DisplayPort Adapter:

  • If your laptop doesn't have an available HDMI or DisplayPort, you can use a USB to HDMI or USB to DisplayPort adapter.
  • Connect the USB end to an available USB port on your laptop.
  • Connect the HDMI or DisplayPort end to the corresponding port on the monitor.

Wireless Display (Miracast):

  • If you want a wireless connection, your laptop and the monitor need to support Miracast or a similar wireless display technology.
  • Make sure your monitor is Miracast compatible.
  • On your laptop, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Wireless display. Select your monitor.

Important Notes:

Drivers:

  • For USB adapters or docking stations, ensure you install any necessary drivers that come with the hardware.

Internet Connection:

  • After connecting to a wired internet source, you might need to adjust your network settings to prioritize the wired connection over Wi-Fi.

Power Supply:

  • Some adapters or docking stations may require external power, so make sure they are connected to a power source.

By following these steps, you should be able to connect your HP Pavilion Laptop to a wired internet connection and add another monitor, even if your laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4, thank you for responding. I ended up ordering this hub off of amazon and I'm just waiting for it to arrive to see if it's compatible lol. Your response was very helpful, and I will use to set up my monitor when I purchase one.

Amazon.com: USB C Hub, UtechSmart USB C Ethernet Multiport Adapter, 6 In 1 USB C to HDMI Dock Compat...

I have an HP Laptop 15-e2000.  In display options, I can only select two monitors.  I want to add a 3rd monitor. There is no option for that, and the detect monitor does not work. I need three monitors for work. Is there a way to add a 3rd monitor (which is hooked up to the laptop and should be detectable), or is there a patch? I purchased this laptop to work at my remote job.  Please help.
