New eero router doesn't support WPS that HP mfp m130 nw requires, need driver update to support WPA2 AES CCMP encryption

Hi @DJFrustrated,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Router firmware updates usually include support for various encryption types, and it's the router's hardware that determines which encryption types it can support.

In this case, it's possible that your router simply doesn't support WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) or that the WPS feature is disabled. However, most modern routers support WPA2 AES CCMP encryption by default, so you should be able to configure your router to use this encryption type without needing any additional updates or drivers.

To enable WPA2 AES CCMP encryption on your router, you'll need to access the router's configuration page and look for the wireless security settings. From there, you should be able to select WPA2 AES CCMP as the encryption type and configure a passphrase or key to secure your Wi-Fi network.

If you're not sure how to access your router's configuration page or change its wireless security settings, you can consult your router's user manual or contact the manufacturer's customer support for assistance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

It’s not the router, it’s the printer. My M477 wants a WPA passcode. Guess what? Eero doesn’t recognize this ancient form of encryption. How do I configure the printer to use WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption? I’ve updated the firmware and drivers and still get the WPA error message.

Hi @DJFrustrated,

If your printer does not support WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption and you are receiving an error message when attempting to connect it to your Eero network, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Confirm printer compatibility: Ensure that your printer model is indeed capable of supporting WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption. Check the printer's manual or HP website for specific information on supported security protocols.
  • Network security settings: Access your Eero router's configuration settings and verify that the network is configured to use WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption. You may need to adjust the security settings if they are not set to the correct protocol.
  • Printer firmware update: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates specifically addressing compatibility issues with WPA2 AES-based CCMP encryption. Install any updates that are available.
  • Alternate connection method: If your printer is unable to connect to your Eero network using the desired encryption method, consider using an alternate method of connecting the printer. This could include using a USB cable or setting up a separate network specifically for the printer if supported by your Eero system.

I hope this helps.
