The WIFI settings in my daughters new HP laptop keep disappearing.  We have done a complete reset several times and that was working but not any longer.  We researched the issue on the internet and followed the directions that were on the HP support site but that’s not working either. Can you please help before we return it for a replacement, and it’s not even a month old. Thank you.

Let's try these steps here: 

 

Try updating the wireless drivers and BIOS on the PC to the latest version using HP support assistant and check if the issue persists.

Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here

 

If you still have issues try the steps recommended below.

 

Restart your modem or WiFi adapter

 

Press Windows Key + X to open Win + X menu and select Device Manager from the list.
Find your networking device, right click on it and click Disable.
Restart your computer
Go to Device Manager again, and enable the networking device the same way you disabled it

 

Turn on the Network or wireless icon in Settings

Step 1: Open Start menu, click Settings icon to open the Settings app. The Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut can also be used to open Settings.

Step 2: Click System icon. Click Notifications & actions.

Step 3: Click Turn system icons on or off.

Step 4: Check the status of the Network icon, and turn it on.

Step 5: Click the Back arrow to go back to Notifications & actions. Click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

Step 6: Check if the Network is turned off, and turn on the same if it’s off.

 

Reset TCP connection

 

Right-click on the Start Menu button and open Command Prompt (Admin)
Enter the following lines and press Enter after entering each one:
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled 
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Now enter this command to to verify that previous functions were disabled:
netsh int tcp show global
Close the Command Prompt window.

 

Run Windows Networking Troubleshooter

 

Go to Search and type troubleshoot. Choose Troubleshoot from the menu.

Select Network Adapter and click Run the troubleshooter.

Follow on-screen instructions.

 

Also, try the steps recommended below.

 

Disable your network adapter power saving setting

1) On your laptop, press the Windows logo key and R on your keyboard to open the Run box. Then type “ncpa.cpl” and press Enter.
2) Right click your Wireless/WiFi network adapter, then click Properties.
3) Click the Configure button.
4) Select the Power Management tab, make sure Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is not checked, and then click OK.
