Have had this issue since buying the laptop earlier this year, but haven't been able to find a solution.

When my laptop sleeps for an extended period, upon waking the network adapter is not available.  The wireless icon is gone replaced by the generic "globe" network icon. Turning on/off airport mode does nothing.  When I go to device manager the Intel Wireless AC 9560 adapter is visible.  In order to get wireless working again I have to disable and then re-enable the device to get it to work.

I am currently on 20.120.0.4.  I previously actually go the latest intel released drivers but that actually was worse cause when the network adapter stopped working, it would disappear from device manager and I've have to restart the device.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I definitely have the most recent bios, chipset driver and network adapter driver based on the HP driver website as well as using HP support assistant.  believe me, I've been trying to fix this issue for several weeks.  I also previously used Intel's newest drivers (which are much newer than the HP released drivers BTW, but as mentioned it actually made the issue worse since when the laptop slept the devices actually disappeared from device manager).

Today I actually ended up doing a registry edit so that I could get the power management tab to show up.  it's detailed in this microsoft forum thread.  When I did that, restarted the computer, the power management tab was available.  I then was able to uncheck the ability for windows to put the network adapter to sleep to save power. I had to reverse the registry edit because it somehow made it so my laptop couldn't sleep (but I did not reverse the change I made to the power management tab for the network adapter).  It's only been a day but no loss of wireless on sleep so far, but probably longer testing is needed.

Not sure why the power management tab is not available for me, but based on other threads I think it may be an HP bios issue. If you search google for HP Laptop no power management tab there are multiple threads across many different HP laptop series...unfortunately none are really satisfactorily answered and so it looks like maybe the registry edit is the only way to get it to show up unless there's a change in the future.

@Vududude There are some things you can try to fix this in Windows 10. We suggest checking the Power Management settings of your Wireless Network Adapter by following the steps below:

  1. Open Settings from the Start Menu and select Network & Internet.
  2. Click Wi-Fi on the left pane and select Change adapter options.
  3. Right-click on your Wireless Network Adapter and select Properties.
  4. Under Networking tab, select Configure.
  5. Click on Power Management tab and check the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power box, then click OK.

If the issue persists, you can try doing a network reset by following the steps on this link

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've seen it before on other threads but the problem is that for my laptop there is no Power Management tab...  I've read on other threads for other laptops that it sometimes has to be enabled in the BIOS, but I have not seen anything in my BIOS that pertains to power management.   I am running the most recent BIOS which is I believe F.31 (sorry not on the laptop with the issue currently).

Just to clarify when I click on configure the only tabs available are:

General

Advanced

Driver

Details

Events

So no Power Management tab. Any ideas?

@Vududude If the power management window is unavailable, I suggest we update the wireless card, chip-set and ensure the latest bios is installed via the HP website: click here to find and install the same,

That said, if the issue persists or the option isn't available, as suggested earlier: you can try doing a network reset by following the steps on this link

@Vududude
Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. As you've performed all the relevant troubleshooting steps and the issue persist.

I would suggest performing system factory default will isolate the failure, If its a hardware related issue then computer needs to serviced.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961#AbT3 to perform a System Recovery (Windows 10)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, but there's no way I'm going to spend that much time to restore factory defaults and reinstall windows to solve this issue.

After a few days I can say that my workaround seems to have fixed the issue with wireless not working after wake from sleep.  Even when the laptop came fresh from the factory there was no Power Management Tab available  in the wireless adapter and so I don't think reinstalling windows is going to have much affect.   If I run into more issues I may end up doing the full reinstall, but things seem to be working fine for now.
