Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Hi, I recently got a new router from virgin. I’ve swapped over all other devices on to new router. The laptop does not seem to be able to locate the wireless network. I’ve tried plugging direct into router and that works but WI-FI won’t even appear as an available connection. Help would be much appreciated. It’s a Pavilion laptop running windows 8 I believe. Thanks

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to make sure your new router is broadcasting on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi bands.

Most of us connect to the router's 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band nowadays, but most of the older HP notebooks come with single band Wi-Fi adapters that only work on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

That would be the only reason I can think of as to why that is the only notebook not connecting to your router.
