I do not see a Bluetooth Adapter in the BIOS device list.  Strangely the WLAN says "Test WLAN".  See the attached.

Interesting.

I would not order a different wifi card.

Since there is no BT showing and you are getting that odd message about the WLAN card, your notebook must not like any wifi card not listed in the manual.

Usually you get an unsupported wifi card error on boot, but this is almost as bad.

Your only other option would be to buy the separate Bluetooth module and cable listed in chapter 3 of the manual.

Bluetooth module 4.0 EDR       HP part # 655792-001
Bluetooth module cable            HP part # 641830-001

See chapter 4, page 84 for how to install the BT module and cable.

It is going to be hard to find the cable, it appears, since it is part of a cable kit and not sold separately.

Well this is looking less and less like a good solution.  I may just have to settle for a USB Bluetooth dongle.

I have replace the WiFi card with the original Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6502 and the BIOS now shows the WLAN as FCC ID PD962205ANH with, of course, no Bluetooth device listed.

I have looked everywhere that I can see inside the computer and there is no evidence of the slot for the Bluetooth module as indicated on Page 84 of the Service manual.  So I guess this machine was not designed for it even though I did manage to find one with a cable on eBay for about $20.

I may still try to exchange the 66914-001 for the 730668-001 or perhaps find a Atheros WB225 (675794-001) despite its limitations.

Thank you for your assistance and encouragement.  Always interesting.

You're very welcome.

We both learned something from this misadventure.

Any chance you might be able to tell me where the Bluetooth module card should go?  I cannot tell from the picture on page 84 of the Service manual.  I do not see a slot like that in my laptop case - picture attached.20200430_154211.jpg

Unfortunately, I don't see anyplace it would go either.

The picture shows that it comes out of a deep recess and the only thing that even looks remotely close to that is on the right side of the picture you posted...that thin recess on the edge to the right of that square device with the two screws holding it down diagonally from each other.

I don't see where the cable would plug into.

The bluetooth module is shaped like that recess...Thin on one end, and fatter on the other.

I got the Atheros AR9485 - HP part numbers 670036-001 and 675794-001 and just installed it.  Still no Bluetooth;^(  You are correct that it does not appear to see the 5Ghz networks.  Oh well, I guess this machine just wasn't made for the new world!  I will have to resort to a USB dongle if I really want it.
