Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I am experiencing problems with wirelessly connecting my laptop to my smart TV. With my other devices, the connection with the TV is smooth. However, most of the times I try, the laptop cannot find the device (TV), and if it does find it, a "Couldn't connect" message appears. Weirdly, I once managed to connect the devices and they were operating perfectly, but once the connection was lost, I couldn't do that again.

I'd like to mention that I checked and Miracast was working properly on both my laptop and my TV. I also tryied updating my Monitor drivers but without any success to connect. Devices info:

PC:

Product Description: HP Spectre x360 - 13-4100nn (ENERGY STAR)

Product Number: P3L15EA

TV:

LG OLED55B8PLA

Would you know where should I look for a solution to this problem?

Thanks,

Tanyo

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hi @KrazyToad

Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion and checked for driver updates with the HPSA. I updated them all and nothing changed. I still very hardly even detect the device from the action center. It happens to be discoverable completely randomly. And when I find it and try to connect, the connection cannot be established - It is partially connected since I see a message on the TV that a share is requested, but nothing more. In a while the device is again not discoverable.

Weirdly From the Devices & Printers menu, when I try to add the device I ALWAYS find the device but as "Enterntainment device" and "Digital Renderer". See snapshot below:

Capture.JPG

So to sum up:

1) My TV is RANDOMLY and for a short period of time discoverable as a TV (wireless display), but I cannot establish the connection.

2) My TV is ALWAYS discoverable as an Etnertainment device and Digital Media Renderer.

I have no idea what the problem could be...

Thanks for your effort anyway.

Best,

Tanyo

Did you ever get this to work? My problem is that it works for a while then stops. Seems like the last time it started working was after a Windows update. Now it isn't working again. I"ve tried connecting to multiple devices. When I use "connect" in Windows 10, it says my device doesn't support miracast. Well it did, then it didn't then it did and now it doesn't.

I've checked both HPSA for updates and windows for updates.
