Hi

I saw driver against the card.
I see a key xxxxxx to show that aux is known.
This was only because I manually added Aux as a network in 'add connection' within W10. (I used xxxxxxx to mask the password for the forum)

I try ping 127.0.0.1 to prove that an adapter is present, but your ethernet would probably respond.
I'm not sure I understand, do you want me to try this?

Do you have a 2.4 and 5.0 WiFi ?

Yes, the router can do both 2.4 and 5.0 but the ralink only sees the 2.4 (current driver?)

Well, we're still stuck with this non connection of the Ralink RT5390in our Hp G6 1343ea W10.  I've run a log (recommended by another site) which revealed the following:

Authentification WPA2 Pers

Encoding AES-CCMP

BSS Infra

Fail Dissconnected while asssociating

But I don't know what it means by associating, any clues out there from the experts? Is this a driver issue rather than outdated/non functioning wifi card?

Hi

Which we already knew...

Number of SSIDs : 1
SSID name : "Aux"
Network type : Infrastructure
Radio type : [ Any Radio Type ]
Vendor extension : Not present

Security settings
-----------------
Authentication : WPA2-Personal
Cipher : CCMP
Authentication : WPA2-Personal
Cipher : GCMP
Security key : Present
Key Content : xxxxxxxxxx

Cost settings

"Just tried to add Aux SSID and its password - I set this up with security WPA2 personal (does this need to match the router?)"

YES.

I've even tried changing the router security to open and the W10 network connection security to 'none' and still no luck...  (I've set it back to Wpa2-psk on the router now)

I've asked some knowlegable friends to do tests and there seems to be no solution with the Ralink 5390, the opinion is that maybe a Windows 10 update has removed the drivers that were working and done somthing else that means the wifi card won't function, it's anybodys guess, it's true the card may only be desiged for W7 (and we did upgrade the os which is our risk) and HP would just not be bothered about supporting a 5 y/o laptop in these circimstances

As we've been running tests I do have a suspicion that it's somthig to do with the card transmit side of the hardware, it would seem that the error 'disconnected while associating' which occurs after about 10 seconds might be a timeout and it seems to me that the card can recieve (it can see networks) but maybe can't transmit (to complete the handshake). Anoher clue this might be the case was one friend turned on the hotspot on the laptop and we could't see the broadcast SSID.

For now it will be a wifi dongle in the short term but I intend to get a compatible (but different model) replacement wifi card from ebay for a fiver and try that, it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the contributions and help but I think we'll leave this as no solution.

Well, I bought a realtek RTL8188CE PCI WLAN wifi card which was on the list of compatible cards, swaped it out but the laptop says unsuported even before it gets to boot W10 - (not sure I want to go bios flashing)

If there's a HP expert out there I'd appreciate an answer, according to the list of compatible wifi cards for the g6 pavillion 1343ea this one is on the list:

Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter (BT3.0+HS ready) 600370-001

so will this part work? as it has the same HP part number? SPS:600370-001

thanks to The-Fossett on another thread for confirming that the broadcom card above would work in the g6, it did, all fixed for £4.

it would seem my theory was correct that the transmit side of the Ralink card had failed.
