Hey my Laptop model HP Pavillion g6

I recently serviced this laptop for repair. It uses a Ralink rt3290 wireless 802.11bgn WIFI adapter. I recently got a Jio fiber connection which has both 2.4 and 5G connections.

1) My laptop doesn't show the 5G connection
2) It does not connect to the 2.4 as well , even when credentials are correct

My questions are

1) Does updating the driver fix this ?
2) If no How do i connect to the internet

Please give me a solution

Hi:

1.  The Ralink RT290 wireless adapter only works on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, so nothing is wrong there.

2.  The only suggestion I can offer would be to make sure your notebook has the last Wi-Fi driver for W8.1 that Ralink released to HP:

MediaTek (Ralink) Wireless LAN (WLAN) Adapter

5.0.50.0
