oh, i can't thank you enough for everything you helped me so far. that makes so much sense now. yeah, you are right, if it is just a lose connection, i can reconnect it, if it is still not working, i got no way to tell if it is the antenna wire until ask it to be replace. oh, i never knew i got have a USB adapter. That's just awesome!

HP support guided me roll my system back to win10, as they thought they might solve my problem. so i am back to win 10 pro today, could i just ask which system you could recommended me to stay? win 10 pro or win 11 pro.

Anytime.

If the Wi-Fi adapter is still not working on W10, then you may as well re-upgrade to W11 if everything else is fine.

W10 goes out of Microsoft support next October (no more cumulative or security updates and whatnot).

I've never gone into that kind of depth of disassembly (replacing a broken antenna wire) of a notebook and suggest if you haven't either, if you want to have it looked at, to take it into a reputable PC repair shop if it isn't a disconnected antenna wire at the Wi-Fi card.

That would be easy enough to fix after unplugging the notebook, removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the battery.

Let's just hope that's all it is.

thank you so much. ah, i see, yeah, that makes so much sense to update to win 11.

Thank you for sending the link for the USB adapter, i know you mentioned it can be used on win 11 too, however, it only says win 10/8/8.1/7 on the description. have you tried on your win 11 too? just in case i will need to get a different one once i do the update.

thank you so much again,

You're very welcome.

Yes, I'm using that model on the latest version of W11.

Works fine using the W10 drivers.

Amazing! thank you so much. I had a look the one you recommended has a even better review than some reputable brand ones like TP-Link and EDUP etc. i will place an order too. do you normally need to download any app to install is when you plug the USB in? sorry to have so many questions, i never used one before.

You're very welcome.

The one I bought, which looks the same as the one I posted, had the drivers in a folder.

In other words when you plugged it in, it acted like a USB flash drive and there were driver exe files you clicked on to install the drivers.

Never saw anything like it.

It basically has the same specs as far as throughput as the RTL8821CE card your notebook has now.

Anytime

Glad to have been of assistance.

Coincidentally, W11 update just installed an updated wifi driver this morning for that little USB wifi adapter.

The new installed driver version is dated July 24, 2024.

You should probably get the same update after you install the wifi adapter with its original drivers.
