Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

About two nights ago, we had a momentary power blip. I do not know if the laptop's power supply was connected or not, but our laptop stopped connecting since that time (as far as I can tell, that is when it stopped connect). However, all other devices connect to the router just fine. Even so, I rebooted the router just to make sure, but it made no difference for the laptop (again, all other devices connect fine).

When I try connect the laptop, it says "Can't connect to this network". I have tried upating the driver (version 2023.66.1104.2017 is what's not installed), I performed the extensive hardware test procedure located here (found no hardware failures), and I performed a full Windows restore. I continue to get the same error.

Are there any other options to diagnose software issues or hardware issues?

Thank you

Hi

The Adapter is there, has a driver installed and to all intents and purposes is good to go.

But it is disconnected, so is there an Aeroplane Button to turn it on (F12 for me)?

Next would be Device Manager or Control Panel and look at the properties assigned...

Eth IPv4.pngGateway.png

Next I would compare the values for Ethernet and WiFi.

ipconfig -all

The wifi is turned on (i.e., not in airplane mode) and it's picking up signals (both my wifi and others available around me). But won't connect when I try to turn it on. When I run ipconfig -all, I get:

I compared the properties assigned, and both ethernet and wifi are set to "Obtain an IP (DNS server) address automatically". It's run fine like that up until now.

In "Network & Internet settings", i went to "View your network properties" and saw this:

I'm not sure if the "Not operational" status means anything beyond not being connected to a network, or if there's a problem with the card itself.

Thank you for the assistance!

Hi

I would expect the WiFi to have preference over the ethernet connection.

I have not seen any Bluetooth evidence, and quite often shares the same adapter.

C:\>getmac

Physical Address    Transport Name
=================== ===========================================
48-48-48-48-48-27   \Device\Tcpip_{FE399}   WIFI
B0-5A-DA-DE-84-28   Media disconnected  ETHERNET
48-48-48-48-48-28   Media disconnected   BLUETOOTH

So if there should be Bluetooth and there isn't, it may be the Adapter card.

There is no such wireless interface on the system.

So it doesn't work.

I updated the firmware on my router and rebooted it. I also noticed that my printer (Cannon 227MF) is not longer connected to the Wifi anymore either. I tried WPS on both, and neither the computer nor printer would connect. Both the computer and printer can physically see the router (and others in the neighborhood). When using WPS, the computer says "Getting settings from the router", but then "Windows can't get settings automatically. Enter the security key instead".

Saw this in the administrative event logs:

The IP address lease 192.168.1.3 for the Network Card with network address 0xDC4A3EEDDCDD has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Hi

The Router will have a label with the SSID, Passkey and Gateway.

AnnDroid, AD20180504, 192.168.1.1  and the Passkey should match the one in the router and then on all your devices.
