I have just updated to 300Mb fibre broadband and my HP Laptop is only getting 65Mb upload and download speed.
Other devices are running at 295Mb download and 900 upload.
The wifi adaptor is a Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter . It appears to connect using 2.4 Ghz
Two questions
1. what speed should this adaptor be able to run at?
2. can you control if it uses 2.4 or 5 Ghz
I believe by laptop is fully up to date with windows 11 and the driver
it is a Envy x30 Convertible 13-ay0xxx with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U
PS I am not into networking but would appreciate any advice.

Hi:
The maximum throughput of the RTL8822CE 802.11ac is 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.
You can check the actual connection speed the card is connecting to your network by going to the Windows control panel>network and internet>network and sharing center.
Click in the wireless connection on the right side of the window, and it will show you what speed the adapter is connecting at.
If it is above 144 MBPS, then you are connecting to the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band.
The default advanced settings for the Wi-Fi card should be fine, but you should be able to select the band you want to connect to in the advanced settings menu for the Realtek Wi-Fi card in the device manager.
There should be a preferred band setting.
This is the latest driver HP has for the Realtek RTL8822CE wifi adapter:

I recently upgraded to 200 Mbps ISP. I am getting 200+ Mbps via ethernet. On wifi I'm only getting 90 Mbps. Router should allow 300 Mbps. Realtek is showing me connecting at 150 Mbps. I reloaded adaptor driver. Router is at latest firmware. Any ideas?
computer: HP 14-cf1001ne
OS: win10
wireless adaptor: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter
driver version: 2024.10.228.1
Wireless Router: Netgear N600 WNDR3800/connecting 5G band

I found that my laptop and some other devices were connecting via 2.4Gz rather than 5Gz.
I set my laptop (windows 11) to have a preference for 5G but it kept connecting with 2.4G
I have ended up changing the name of the two wifi signals so now I can select which I wish to connect to.
thanks for help given

My man, Paul. I don't know what black box you are reaching into to find these up to date drivers but you have been a life saver on many occasions. (we haven't actually spoken, but I've been lurking the threads and finding your links to these drivers over the years). You have been on point for years here. You are a godsend. You are divinity in human form. A righteous paladin shining his holy light on we mere mortals. I made an account just to say, Thank you.
