Hi
So now we move to trying to get a connection, and if you have dis-connected the Aerial/Antenna wires, this could be problematic.
Let's state the obvious..
You need an IP address, a Subnet mask, Gateway IP and usually DNS iP numbers.
WiFi additionally needs a Password/Key the the SSID.
The IP address is normally from the DHCP on the router and is automatic.
The Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 as a rule.
The Gateway IP may be on a label on the router, like 192.168.0.1 for instance.
DNS numbers are for your ISP, but generic 8.8.8.8 7 8.8.4.4 may work.
So what of the above can you ID and post please. Include/Compare with any Ethernet details.

OK.
Let's try to remove the confusion.
Since you have tried installing the driver and had no success, you still have options.
You can either have the wifi adapter in the notebook replaced or you can buy a USB wifi dongle.
The dongles are quite small and inexpensive, depending on where in the world you reside.

See the following Newegg.com web page that shows the USB button wifi dongles. They are tiny and work quite well!
