I have two HP Notebooks. The first one I used for almost 2 years with no problems, then one day it stopped getting download speeds in excess of 10 mbps. Sometimes less than 1 mbps. I have 440mbps from LAN on someone else's laptop, mine is lucky to get 5. So, I just bought another HP Notebook 17z touch. Now, it is only getting speeds of 60 to 100 and sometimes drops down to 15or 20. I've tested my connection and it is getting near 400 mbps, but nothing even close to that on either laptop. My new laptop was getting speeds near 400 a month ago. I have no idea what is going on, it is quickly turning me against HP. I'm also getting a start PXE over ipv4 message on startup. I'm lost, please help.

I see that you're experiencing slow internet connection issue with the HP Notebook 17z, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
Use the following steps to update your network driver:
-
Go to the HP Customer Support web page.
If prompted, select your country/region.
-
Enter the model name for your HP or Compaq computer. For example, SR1820NX or m7434n. Click Next.
-
Select Drivers.
-
On the Drivers and Downloads page, select your operating system from the Select your operating system drop-down, and then click Next.
-
Under Step two: Select a download, click the + (plus) sign next to Driver - Network to expand the list of available network drivers.
-
Select the network or modem driver update from the list. For example, Realtek RTL8139 LAN Driver Update.
-
Click the Download button.
-
When the download bar appears at the bottom of your screen, click Save.
-
When the download has completed, click Run.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the download.
-
Restart your computer, then connect to the Internet.
Also, disable automatically opening the software, use the Microsoft System Configuration software (Msconfig) as follows:
-
Search for and open msconfig.
-
On the General tab, click Selective startup, remove the selection next to Load startup Items, and then click OK.
Figure : Selective startup selection in the System Configuration window
- Restart your computer, then connect to the Internet.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
