@AxshunJaxun wrote:@Heretikos Thanks so much for the feedback and confirming that those drivers did work for you! I really appreciate you taking the time to post! 🙂
You know what? It boosted it, but after a restart, was the same lol... I don't know why... I played around with it, couldn't get it to work. Just went on ebay, bought one that's listed in the manual (even though people say it might not work because of whitelist) and it works great. It's under 20-25 bucks to replace. I think it's worth doing that. I went with Atheroes since I read a lot better reviews compared to other brands. I'll never mess with ralink again.

@Shingo
It's possible that the card has only one antenna cable. What is your product number (abbreviated P/N)?
You can find that by pressing FN + ESC.
Like Yankee said, I can provide you with the manual and also check the specs on that card.
Thanks!

Thanks Shingo for that product number. The Ralink RT5390 is, in fact, only a 1 Transfer 1 Receive (1T1R) wireless card. You may have already seen this link, if you had a chance to read one of my previous posts from page 4.
Ralink RT5390 Specifications Page -- it is the first bullet under Features
This means it will have a weaker signal than what you may be accustomed to. So you'll have to be a little closer to the router to prevent drops it seems.
stephentx found success using an extender. Heretikos found success in replacing the card with an Atheros card, though I'm not sure what model. The card may come with a CD or a USB drive for the driver, or I'm sure you could download it from the Atheros (or whatever manufacturer's) site. 🙂
@Heretikos If you wouldn't mind sharing what Atheros model you used, that would be helpful! 🙂

Well, I have the Envy dV7 7212nr and I replaced the card with the ATHEROS QCWB335 WIRELESS N + BLUETOOTH BT 4.0 COMBO MINI-CARD WB335 AR9565 Part number 690019-001 (computer models equipped with an Intel processor).
I should note that I've read that although this part is listed in the service guide for my computer, that doesn't mean it's whitelisted. Apparently (not verified) the manual is for testing and begining stages of the computer. If it's not whitelisted, it supposedly won't work. I've asked HP and here how to optain this "whitelist" (something that's in the BIOS) and can get any information. I took a shot in the dark and my card worked. It's a very cheap, easy to install replacement. But I can understand someone getting annoyed paying this much for a computer with a crappy wireless card. Was a little annoying, but not a deal breaker for me.
