HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is stuck in what is apparently some sort of airplane mode. The function key F12 doubles up as a special key to toggle this mode. There is a light on the key which is currently amber, and when I press it it will not change. It seems to have disabled the wireless network adapter, and the device manager doesn't even show that there is one. It does not show available WiFi networks, or even the symbol for them. Only a icon informing that there is no Ethernet cable plugged in. I can't find any way to turn off this mode, I'm not sure if the actual key is broken or if there's a bigger issue. please help!

also already tried going to device manager the card does not appear at all anymore.  no wifi no bluetooth.

@LMRCAR

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Did you make any changes on the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected. You can also undo a System Restore if the restore does not resolve the issue or if the issue becomes worse.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
