Hi, I have a HP Pavilion 17-F023NR notebook it has a Realtek Radio Model RTL8188EE and I can only ger 2.4G wireless to show up Im told that this card doesent support 5.4G I am interested in a new upgaded card. I have tried the LinksysN300 Wireless adapter but its worse than the current Card by itself Current Speedtest info is 12-26 down load 8-10 upload Im on a 100meg system and cant get the use of it. I believe it to be getting worse at one point I was getting 50 plus down and 11 up
Im looking for the best option for my notebook. I actually Have 2 of these laptops and will be upgrading them both.
Im running a netgear router with both bands and im using WPA security so Im not throttled by the security that I know of.

Hi:
On your model, you can only upgrade the internal wifi card to a dual band one if there are two antenna cables connected to the Realtek 8188EE wifi adapter your notebook has.
My concern is that HP started installing only one antenna cable on the single band cards sometime around when your notebook's model series was introduced.
Dual band HMC wifi cards must have two antenna cables connected to them in order to work properly.
So, you will have to open up the notebook see if there are two antenna cables connected to the wifi card.
Below is the link to the service manual. The wifi card R & R procedures can be found in chapter 6.
Do not rely on the pictures in the service manual to determine the # of cables.
They all show two because some 17-f### models have dual band wifi cards.

If your notebook does have two antenna cables connected to the wifi card in there now, you can upgrade to this card...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and doesn't cost much at all.
Do your search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

You're very welcome, Ken.
You can order the antenna kit listed in chapter 3, page 41 of the service manual
Antenna Kit (includes left and right wireless antenna cables and transceivers and screws) for HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
HP part # 763691-001
You will only need to install the one antenna cable/tranceiver that is missing.
The antenna installation procedure can be found in chapter 6.
Then you can install the above Intel 7260 AC wifi card.
