Dear _nero_,
Could you open a terminal window and run the following command:
This will open up a network window (see picture in which you can switch airplane mode on/off):
gnome-control-center network
Let me know if this worked.

@_nero_
When you are in that networkwindow you can also run the following command in terminal to toggle wifi on/off and you will see the button airplane mode change from on to off and vice versa:
nmcli nm wifi off

#:~$ nmcli nm wifi off Error: argument 'nm' not understood. Try passing --help instead.
it seems like wifi is disabled from kernal it self , i have upgraded 16.04 to 18.04 ,on 16.04 its working perfectly , now i cant even turn it on.

Dear _nero_,
Could you try the following command in terminal?
nmcli radio all on
This will turn all communication on wifi, wan etc.
Thus, this would turn off airplane mode.
Let me know if it worked.

Dear _nero_,
I am sorry to hear the wifi is still disabled on your HP system.
However, I would suggest you to run the following code in terminal and let me know if it worked:
sudo modprobe -r hp_wmi
sudo rfkill unblock all
rfkill list all
This code disables the hp_wmi module, this module is known to cause conflicts with a linux distro.

Dear _nero_,
I am sorry that your wifi is not working yet.
(Check using iwconfig whether your interface is wlan0 before using these commands)
However, I would like you to try these terminal commands:
sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service
sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
sudo rfkill unblock all
This will restart the network system, restarts your wifi card and unblocks very interface.
Let me know if it worked.
