I want to upgrade my laptop (15-ay109nj) to wifi 6. After opening the computer, i saw the wifi card (Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn) has 2 antenna connectors but the laptop has only 1 antenna.
according to the expert: Paul_Tikannen (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/upgrading-Realtek-RTL8723BE-802-11-bg... ) there is only one option for upgrade.
In another answer by Paul (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/I-want-to-upgrade-my-internal-wifi-an... ) about a different model, it is possible to install the second antenna to support other dual band wifi cards.
- What is the my best compatible option to achieve the best possible wifi speeds? (can i also install the second antenna?)
- Same question like above, but for this model: 14al-106nj (currently with the same wifi card).

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I don't know how you get more speed out of the card.
The specs indicate it can connect at a maximum of 2.4 GHz.
That would be with a Wi-Fi 6 router with the 160 MHz setting enabled.
There is a normally a difference between what the card connects to the router at, and what the actual download speed are.
To see what speed the card is connecting at, go to the Windows control panel>Network and Internet>Network & Sharing Center>under the View your active networks section, on the right side of the window that opens, click on the wireless connection, and it will indicate the speed the Wi-Fi adapter is connecting at.
I've never gotten any of my AX200 adapters to connect at more than 1.2 GHz.
I have never gotten more than 370 MBPS actual download speed on any of them running an internet speed test.
For me it is not an issue for two reasons...
1. I only pay for a 400 MBPS download speed.
2. I do not have my PC's sharing files so I don't transfer files across the network, which would be helpful to have the fastest network speed you can get.
I've never looked into troubleshooting the problem.
They work fine for me, never disconnect, or have any other issues.
What I am sure of is the cards you have now are running considerably better than the ones you had.
Count that as a victory.

If you want to install a second antenna wire, then this card should work:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part #L35282-005
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure and the antenna installation procedure.

Thank you for the quick response!
Searching Ebay & AliExpress, i found a few products with SPS number matching the HP part number (L35282-005)
each product have a different 2 characters following the part number (L35282-005 0C/ L35282-005 0A)
what does it mean and does it matter which one?
- Do the same card & antenna upgrade will also work with model: 14-al106nj ?

Hey,
first of all, thank you for your much appreciated help!
so i purchased 2 wifi cards with the same SPS and they both worked with no problem!
(the 14-al106nj already had 2 antenna wires so it was even an easier installation)
I am getting about 350Mbps download speed even when standing beside the router (on the phone i get around 600 Mbps)
is it the maximum speed of this wifi card or can i improve that?

The adapter is connecting at 650 Mbps.
the speeds i am getting now are sufficient for me, just wanted to know if i need to change somthing in my settings or installed the cards incorrectly.
and dont worry, after trying browsing with 23Mbps download speed i defenitely considering it as a victory 😉
Thanks again for all the help you give to me and the community!
