hp notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone...i have an hp notebook model ....14-am052nr and i cant get it to connect to the 5.0 internet connection in my house. It doesn't even show it in the list and i have tried to uninstall the card several times and update the drive but no luck. it will connect at the 2.4 and it is listed on the list of connections

any ideas as to what i am doing wrong and the little hard drive has been wiped out clean so it doesn't show or have an traces of hp on or in it anywhere. how can i get it back the way it came from the factory?

Hi:

The product specs for your notebook indicate that it came with a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05243191

That is why you don't see any 5.0 GHz wifi networks to connect to.

You can upgrade the wifi card or purchase an external dual band USB wifi adapter.

If you want to upgrade internal wifi card this is the only dual band model that will work in your notebook...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express,

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.
