Totally worked for me.  Thanks so much!  It was such an inconvenience not being able to use Skype for conference calls.

how did you finally fix your webam?

I had an intermittent webcam a few months after purchase.  After discovering that it might be a loose connection I tried tapping lightly lightly on the top left and right outside edges of the display. That made it flicker into action.  Check your computer by going to Device Manager and looking for imaging devices>HP TrueVision HD to see if your camera is showing up.  Skype started recognizing the webcam and it showed up in device manager. If your connector is completely disconnected then tapping may not work.   Here is the hardware ID for my unit.

Next I looked for a video covering screen replacement.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUNjR-ScHNE

It was not necessary to remove the bezel.  Just pop off on right side and top. Just enough to view webcam unit and snug the white connector up into place.  It went in 1 or 2mm.   Then I put a very small amount of superglue on it right where the white plug meets the black connector.  Too bad it does not snap into place.  I suspect that the cable does not have enough slack and that movement of the screen from opening and closing causes the connector to work out enough to cause intermittent or failure of the connection.

It seems to work fine now.

This is the solution people, mine works perfectly fine now.

When you mentioned the white part and pushing it up, is that up into the circuit board (towards the lid) or push up  in a direction out of the bezel?

HP Recommended

Upwards to fit into the connector/circuit board.

In my case the device class is blank and grayed out so that you cannot enter "image"
