What Bassam said worked for me as well.  At first I couldn't see what he was talking about and then we pulled the levels apart a little bit more.  We had to use a screwdriver to push up on the white part.... but it worked and nothing else did!

Hey, I had the same problem and i did a factory reset and nothing was working! not even tech support knew what to do.

But i found this video on youtube, i tried it, and it worked! my camera finally works.

seriously, if you have a pavilion dv7, this is the solution. The chip is just a little loose and you have to push it into place. Im not a very computer savvy person but if i can do it, you can to. try it!

After hours and hours of me googling and researching how to fix this exact problem this was the most helpful! I went through so many processes to figure out what was wrong and it was as easy and flip the top of the screen open and plug it back in! Thank you sooo much!

Hello MichaelMcCarthy,

You need your web cam driver.

Please post your product and model number.

You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.

I’ll see if I can find the link to your driver download.

Have a good day.

Hello NotSoSlimGIE

I see that you are having problems with the webcam on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.

Can you provide the full model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

How long have you been having an issue with the webcam?
