Hi younggrandma40. Unfortunately only the person who started the thread (on page 1) can give an 'Accepted Solution', however a Kudos is always welcomed. Great question!

Bastiaan my friend, I am sorry for doubting you. My laptop had just gone out of warranty and yet my first inclination was not to disassemble, so I passed on your solution. Like Oregonerd, I don't wish to have my baby violated, so I wanted an option besides factory repair. I knew the issue was that the system did not detect the device. It was not about software updates, competing applications or reverting back to the factory installed program. If the issue comes up again, like Oregonerd found, I am going with tbink's tweak. Just I would advise to position the screen so it lays flat to prevent dripping and you only need a small amount. It just has to bridge the gap, not cover the connector.

A connector comes loose.... it is easily fixed BUT I found out I needed to use a tiny drop of hot glue to hold the connector in place.

I want to say that I just love you Bastian. Your solution worked like a charm while i was messed up with this problem around 6 months ago and i kept on scratching my head over drivers. Both of my webcam and internal microphone weren't working since then and there wasn't any solution from HP. And after i tried what you have suggested, both of them are working very fine now. Thank you mate. God Bless you 🙂

I agree as I had the same problem with that bit of tape over the camera as well and I have been talking to the Techs and they did not think of that.

Glad that I could be of help. Enjoy !

Yeah it took me some time as well you don't expect the hardware to be the issue especially if it's a brand new product.
