Good day sir!
I have the Compaq Presario CQ56 and I cannot connect via wifi. It connects when plugged but it doesnt work wirelessly.
My Network adapter is RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet (NDIS 6.20)
My hardware ids are
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_1605103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_1605103C
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_0200
I tried several drivers and then the network icon below just disappeared. LOL
Before, there was just a red X in it (meaning it just cant find a wireless connection)
After trying a certain driver, the icon disappeared. Hope I didnt made it worse. lol
Please help me! Any help will be wholeheartedly appreciated! THANKS

Hi:
The hardware ID's you posted are for the working wired ethernet adapter.
I need the hardware ID's for the wireless network adapter.
If the device needs drivers, then you should see a Network Controller listed in the device manager under the Other Devices category, and it will have a little ! mark next to it.
Please click on the Network Controller and post the hardware ID for that, and I will post the link to the wireless driver you need.

You're very welcome.
Sometimes you need to install the HP Wireless Assistant software in order for the wireless card to show up in the device manager. Use this software to detect and turn on the wireless card.
If after installing this software, the wireless card doesn't show up as a Network Controller needing drivers, or is listed as installed and working under the Network Adapters section of the device manager, then most likely the wireless card has failed.

Good morning (although it is 20:39 here in St. Louis, USA).
I guess your notebook was too new for that software.
Under the circumstances, I believe the wireless network card in your PC has died.
The only other suggestion I can think of to see if you can get the wireless to work would be to back up your files and do a complete system recovery to factory specs.
If that doesn't work, then you will have to replace the wireless card.

Good evening Sir (or goodnight there :p)
Thank you sir! I think that it has finally died on me. Should I cremate or put in a grave? lol Jk
Thanks for the efforts Sir Paul. Glad to meet you. See you around sir!
