Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I have again read the information you linked to but it seems HP/Compaq doesn't supply the recovery disk anymore.

So I am still looking for a way to reset the Compaq Mini 110c-1010SD PC running WinXP (English) to it's factory state.

Regards,

Fred.

There are two options:

  • you may buy USB Recovery Key. Here you will find more informations about it.
  • you may create USB Recovery Key. Here you will find more informations about it.

Regrettably:

HP / Comapq doesn't supply any means to reset the computer to it's new state:

  • you may create USB Recovery Key. Here you will find more informations about it.

This document pertains to HP Notebook PCs that came with Windows 7 and Vista.

I am still looking for the recovery disk or a (.sib) file made by Roxio Back on Track immediately after a fresh install of WinXP English on the netbook.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply.

I have again read the support information. Regrettably HP / Compaq isn't very supportive and HP / Compaq doesn't supply the restore cd anymore.

As the netbook is out of warranty one isn't even allowed to send an "e-mail" (web form?) about it.

In case of a problem with an out of warranty product HP / Compaq gives the advise to buy a new product.

Luckily my Compaq netbook functions correctly. I just have the wish to restore WinXP to it's new state to get rid of all kinds of rubbish WinXP tends to accumulate during use.

Over the past 35 years I have always myself provided backup solutions for the computers I have used but when I bought an OEM computer complete with O/S I assumed it would provide a solution to reset the system to it's factory state. Now I find it doesn't.

The preinstalled Roxio BackOnTrack software can restore the computer to a previous state and has stored lot's of files on the hdd. But, as the Roxio software informs me, this doesn't delete anything; it just writes the old files over the newer versions.

The preinstalled Roxio BackOnTrack software should, after first install, offer the possibility to make a set of files enabling Roxio BackOnTrack to reset the system by writing over the system partition but mine didn't. The system crashed after first install but after a restart it seemed to function properly. I guess this made me miss the option to make a factory reset backup. So I don't have the .sib file(s) Roxio BackOnTrack needs to overwrite the system.

So with HP / Compaq no longer supporting the system I have to depend on other users who have the factory reset cd or the .sib file(s) needed to perform a reset by Roxio BackOnTrack.

So I am still looking for the restore cd or the Roxio BackOnTrack .sib file(s) for the HP / Compaq computer:

Again many thanks for your response.

Regards,

Fred.
