This is a missing software issue; not the subject of this thread.  When you reinstalled the OS, you did not install any of the software that came with the laptop.  The missing software is located on the recovery partition of the drive, which is now gone; or it can be found on the recovery disks that hopefully you made when you bought the laptop.  Copy the following address into your browser and read down through the posts--you will see directions on how to reinstall the OSD (On Screen Display) software and other items as well.

If you didn't make up the recovery disks, you can order them on the HP support site.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your advice. I have installed the new driver & now all functions are working. But I think my Beats Audio function is not working. Please help me on this.

Again, more software that was not installed with the new OS.  Follow the link:

By the way, why did you need to reinstall the OS?

Hi,

@ : your table is very useful. I need an additional information though to find the right pattern: how fast do the lights blink?

In my case, it continuously blinks every 2/3 seconds so I can't know if it is:

  • a continuous blink (power issue)
  • 1 blink (CPU issue

Thank you very much for your answer,

Rémi.

Hi Remi. Sounds like 1 blink, since the continuous blink is a constant glow.

I agree--same symptoms that I had several times.  Sounds like CPU or GPU (probably the latter) issue.  See my post above for my solution--send it out for repair; but not to HP.  Should cost about $100.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I have ordered a new CPU on ebay, I hope it will work!  I'll let you know on this forum.

Hi I was notified that comments were being made on this thread...I too have had the same issues with my DV7. I tried replacing the CPU with one I had purchased from eBay, to no avail....I recommend sending the mobo to a board level tech, something like  http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-DV7-Series-486542-001-Laptop-Motherboard-Repair-Service-/1808337...

or something simular...Let me know if replacing the CPU works for you...Thanks!
