Unfortunately, replacing the CPU didn't do the job for me. I suspect it might be the graphics card (the laptop was overheating) .But no luck, it is an integrated chipset on my laptop ( a HP Pavillon DV6-1225sf).
I can't affort a new system board for an almost 4 years old laptop so I guess that is it!
I'm so disappointed.
Thank you for your help,
Rémi.

Exactly which lights are blinking?
What happens on the screen?
Do you head fans or the HDD spinning?

Same as before:
- the caps lock white light and the num lock white light are blinking at the same time, once every 3 seconds;
- wifi and mute orange lights are on;
- the touch pad, power and the "sound bar" white lights are on.
The fan is on (I can hear the noise) and I can here the DVD driver for one second but nothing else works after:
- black screen
- no HDD spinning
I have tried before booting without the HDD, with only one RAM (I tried both RAM, both slots). I have also removed the battery, unplugged the AC adaptor, and held down the power button for a full minute to dispel any residual charge from the MB. I have tried with a different AC adaptor (a universal one).
If you have any idea, I'm all ears of course!

If you could please post your product number for your computer. I am linking a document below that will show you how to find your product number.
As well if you could do you see anything on the screen when you first start it up? Hard drive not spinning could indicate a failed drive I am curious if your BIOS is loading at all?
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

My computer is a HP Pavilion dv6 - 1225sf.
The product number is: NZ291EA#ABF
I can't be a HDD failure since I have tried to boot after removing the HDD and I faced the same issue. Anyway, I'll have to recover some of my data tomorrow so I'll tell you if there is any problem with it.
The screen doesn't display anything, so no visible sign of the BIOS actually.

Remi,
You have the exact symptoms I described earlier in this thread. The DV series is notorious for overheated GPU's (graphics processor); particularly the AMD/Radeon combinations which seem to be more likely to overheat. I corrected my problem by sending the laptop out to a shop that reballs or replaces the gpu and fixed the problem for about $80 plus shipping back. You have to pay to ship it to him, so total cost of about $120. For about $5, a can of air will keep the fan and heat sink clear of dust bunnies that caused the overheating in the first place. For that price, it's worth sending a four year old laptop out. You'll have it back in about a week, good-as-new. See my post on the first page of this thread.

Hi,
I'm a network engineer. I followed this flash code and ordered a new cpu. 3 days later I got the part. I put it in...
and nothing. The same problem still exists.
The HP symbol on the front of the laptop is flashing
1 flash stop 1 flash stop 1 flash stop
The wifi, mute and mouse pad are all flashing the same as the HP light.
So, now I'm out $50 for the cpu and the laptop I'm working on is still not working.
Can I return the part? I just got it today. I would also like to know if you can tell me the real problem.

I would suggest you called into HP Technical Support for repair options as you may have a hardware issue.
Here is the link to contact options for laptops purchased in the US.

I'm trying to get in touch a company that can repair my laptop in France. Prices are higher than in the US and I'm afraid it will be too expensive. I'll let you know about the price of repair if I send it somewhere.
