In my case, I contacted HP support and they sent someone to pick up my laptop and repair. They said they had to repair the HDMI port. All was well and today 2 months later. Im having the same error again. I think the laptop is faulty

I have the same problem - with a small twist. I bought a Pavilion 11 x2 with Windows 8, and freely upgraded to Windows 8.1. I suffered a few problems including not being able to connect to anything at all with the HDMI port, and the computer crashing rather too often.

I then reinstalled Windows 8.1, and this seems to have solved the crashing problem, but not the HDMI problem. (Since I've recently bought a new TV I care about this a bit more now.) I thought I had finally found the solution with this thread, but unfortunately, since my reinstallation of Windows, I no longer have the HP recovery manager, etc.. So, is there some other way to identify the drivers which need to be (re)installed?
