HP 2000
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have a HP 2000 laptop. Running an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz

Can I upgrade to a better CPU? Or is it soldered?

Hi there @Keir

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions.

I have read your post on the HP Support Forums and I understand that you are looking to upgrade your Processor. Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the HP 2000 Notebook PC. If you take a look at page 80 in Chapter 4, you will see that it shows you how to remove the Processor and also gives you a list of Intel Processor's that are compatible with your specific Notebook.

For an upgrade to a better CPU you can use one of the following Compatible Intel Processors.

That does not look right. Wring series of processor for one reason and the memory speed is not right. If the processor is not soldered the i think it would be i5 3320m series as the fastest processor on this hp.

Hi there @Keir

Here is the HP 2000 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide document. This document is the document I got the information from for your Notebook PC.

If you look at Chapter 4, Page 80 titled "Processors" you will find the information listed there.

Hope this helps. 🙂

But you are sayibg that second gen i 5 processors are the fastest. This is a third gen machine.

Third gen i3 is going to be about the same speed as a 2nd gen i5.

That document is for a second gen it does not even list a third gen i3 in it so it cant be right since i have a i3 3110m thats not even in the manual you are linking to. I need the 3rd gen model manual.

Pretty sure the right manual is this one:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03575298.pdf

This lists my current processor the 3110M and would suggest I can go to a a 3230M. Which would be about a 30% improvement in performance so worthwhile

That aboce link was when a user was asking the same question about a 2000-2D29DX. I have 2000-2C20DX - the motherboards are the same from what I can work out (least from listing on ebay they are the same).

Can someone confirm that I am correct in this ?
