It was Tigerdirect or a place like that.  Bought the machine last year on BF and found that other people had put the 8GB in and it worked so I tried it.

I'm very disappointed in how slow it is.  I'm going to school for programming and it takes forever for it to just load.  I should have read the specs before I bought it, but I use a MAC as my main computer and the HP for programming.  My MAC has me spoiled.

I am confused, on this web page (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03499287

HP specifies "Memory Max Maximum supported = 8GB" for this Laptop (Hp 2000).

I have 4 GB (2x2G sticks) installed and my OS only "sees" 3 GB as reported in Windows 7.
So, who is correct?

Is there any way to see the entire memory installed in Win 7 home Premium?
