I have the exact same problem. I bought my Envy 13 some time ago but from day one i noticed that the laptop runs very hot. This is still the case; it usually is hot, sometimes bescoming very hot (especially while charging the laptop). The fan is constantly running but doesn't seem to be able to keep the temperatures low. I downloaded a temperature monitor; an average temperature of 75° Celcius seems quite high to me since i'm only browsing the internet using mozilla firefox at the moment.

What I already checked; i have the latest BIOS drivers, windows is up to date, i have no other hardware installed, i live in central Europe so temperatures are getting low at the moment. Dust in the fan shouldn't be a problem as the laptop is rather new; HP cool sense is not available for this model.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Best regards

Wouter

Hi,

I have a Hp ENVY 13 d015TU.

It started heating from the third month of my purchase.

Hp engineer cleared the air vent and installed latest bios. This worked for another 2 months.

But after that it started heating again.

This time they took temperature readings and when the system was idle it was measuring around 40 degree celcius.

If you try to toch the area between power key and the bang and olufsen logo your hand will burn for sure. Even hp service engineer was accepting the same.

The reports has been shared to the hp team and the response seems quite funny.

They said the temperature reading are quite normal so it seems normal to us hence we cannot do anything from our end.

I guess Hp shares a log, never ending relationship with Overheating and Hp has become immune to this issue so everytime someone reports this, it becomes normal scenario for Hp hence Case Dismissed.

You can do whatever you want this is not a problem at all.

Thanks,

Akash

I have a HP Envy 13" with the same problem.  The area under the HP logo is almost too hot to touch. My  temp is running above 70 C  constantly with just chrome running. I have a call logged with HP Support. System crashing daily and i know it's not log before i get hardware failures. They want to update the bios is there any hope that a bios update will solve the issues ??

I have the same issue. When I called customer support in regards to it, they would ask me "what can We do this problem" ? It would drive me crazy. Very upset with this issue

I ended up just returning the laptop. The issue seems to of been and issue for over a year with no resolution. The tech support people keep regurgitating the same things over and over that haven't helped anyone. I did hours of googling on this issue to no avail. I purchased for Dell XPS 13 and have been extremely happy with it.
