I have been faccing the same problem for past couple of weeks. One day my computer burned and they would fix it. despite that the problem didnt go away. I tried to reach customer service many times, all they would say that I would be contacted within kess than 48 hours but no one ever responded, so I called back again and one of the HP tech would gain remote access on my pc to reset bios settings and delete temporary files. Then he would ask me to restore the computer to its factory settings by formatting the hard drive. Even during the recovery process, my pc continues to heat up, and when I restarted the windows, the problem would still remain till now. I asked hin if the problem comes again, would I have to recover the system everytime and he responsed "yes" . It is avery annoying that in order to solve this problem I would have to backup my filesand recove the system to factory settings everytime. It makes no sense at all. He tries to fool me that it's a software related problem, and that's very very bad that even HP techs have no solution to this problem. I spend $900 on this PC just because of its slim & sleek design and high configuation such as i7 quad core processor, 16GB RAM and 256 GB SD drive. I have been using it just for checking emails, MS-office and some photoshop - No videos or games at all. I never expected this type of serious problem from a computer like this. Erasing everything from it and restoring it to factory settings doesnt help at all. It's weekend here and I am going to follow them up on Tuesday, if I don't hear anything back from them, as they have promised to contact me on Monday. It's very shameful for a worls known compnay like HP, I will never ever recomment HP Envy 360 to anyone in my life. Couple of days ago one of my friend ha aslo bought the same computer from Costco, and when I mentioned my problem to her, she would return it soon. When I told HP agents that I have been seen too many people compalining about the same issue on your HP tech support page, they never accepted that and said it's not possible. How clever, but I am not going to quit as I have spend so much money. Shame on HP !!!!!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I have been facing the same issues past couple of months. Quite a few weeks ago, because of overheating problem, my computer completely went out of power, and HP replaced the motherboard. After I opened the computer and turned it on for the first time after the repair, the computer became extremely hot within less than five minutes, and continued for two days even after turning off and on multiple times. Then it would go away by itself for few days. Then after a few days the problem came back, and since then I have been making attempts over attempts to get a satisfactory reaponse. Every time I call them, I have to provide them details despite they have given me a case number and a repair case ID, and they would give me the same stupid statement that the case manager should be reaching you within No more than 48 hours. In just one week I have called them five times and this is the same stupid thing I have been hearing and none of the case managers would bother to call me. It seems like that they are trying to get rid of the problem without solving it by ignoring the consumer's complaints. It is really ridiculous and very shameful for a well-known worldwide company like HP providing customers with such a poor service. I have given the last chance to customer service agents case if I don't receive any call from the case managers, I will take legal action against them and this is not a joke. I will never ever recommend it to be computers to anyone, it was a big mistake of me to spend so much money on a high configuration computer like HP envy because of its slim and sleek design. Big Shame on HP. I will never buy their computers again.

i own a HP envy 13 too bought last year 2016, the i5 model, this is by far the worst ultrabook i ever owned, really terrible, it overheat so easily, and the whole system will slow down once it overheats. you only need to surf the web for 5 minutes and you can feel the laptop is 'burning', i am extremely disappointed with HP for this ultrabook, i owned many ultrabooks in the past, lenovo yoga, asus zenbook etc and all never gave me the same problem as Envy 13. its completely unusable.
i am considering changing to another ultrabook, it gets extremely annoying, everytime i use the Envy i have to let the ultrabook 'rest' for 5 minutes to cool down before continuing with surfing. no more HP products for me after this, HP is the worst PC maker, how can you guys release a product as terrible as this?? WORST ULTRABOOK EVER!!!!!!
