You won't get any help, because HP doesn't give a crap or even recognize that there's a problem with the Intel driver.  Intel's generic driver for this card is version 17.12, and HP is still offering 17.0.. something.

This is the 2nd HP laptop Ive owned. Ive had the same problem with both.  HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC, Core i7 , 16GB of RAM, windows 8.1 and so on.  My other HP laptop is a different model but simular.  I have the same problem with both.  If you look at different forums you will find thats its a HP thing that can't be fixed I guess.  I bought my wife a Toshiba, my son an Acer and my other son a Dell. None of these have this problem. HP will say to restart your modem and try other things that will not work. The problem is your laptop, not anything else.  Sorry I cant help you because I still have the same issue. Hopefully I can send this before I lose my connection. ...  I lost connect when I hit post. Says default gateway not available. It says something else sometimes but I dont remember what it is.

I bouught this HP Envy 360 convertible model 15-u011dx from Best Buy around October 10th. The wifi issues started pretty soon after purchase but I didn't return the computer because I figured it was a matter of an update of some kind and that I'd be able to resolve the issue fairly quickly. Well, it didn't work out that way. I am constantly getting dropped wifi, every time I use this piece of junk laptop.

I have tried everything. Nothing fixes the issue. I've updated the network driver, I've uninstalled and re-installed it, I've made sure boxes were checked or unchecked as per HP in various forums. Nothing works.  The troubleshooter constantly has to re-set the wifi adapter, and other time it says "Default gateway not available."

I give up. I guess I'm just stuck with this laptop and will have to deal with these issues for the life of the device. I am able to surf the web for about twenty minutes or so at a time, and then the wifi driops again, and I have to shut off wifi and turn it back on, and that resolves it, but it is constantly happening. Thanks for nothing, HP. We should sue them.

I don't know if anyone's tried this, but it seems to have worked for me so far:

Open Device Manager from Control panel

Go to network adapters

Right click on Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 > Properties

Click on the Power Management Tab

Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

It seems to have solved the problem (at least for now).

I'll update if it happens again.

I just bought the HP x360 about a week ago, about 2 days into having it i noticed this connectivity issue, i've tried windows diagnositics, resetting my router, updating/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, all to no aveil.

I just did the steps from the comment above and changed the driver properties to not allow the device to be turned off to save power, I will give it about a week and probably get back to the thread with an update.

if this is all that needed to be done to fix the issue, the people at fault for the issue isn't HP, it's Windows for setting that as a default setting for their drivers (I checked the other devices on my device manager and they all had "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" checked off. Kind of a silly thing for microsoft to do considering this could be the major cause to alot of issues, and the average user would definitely not have this be their first thought to check out.

if this does work jmildraws, you are a godsend, and with my tech background, I should feel ashamed for not having checked this. Lol!

Just an update: it's been over a couple weeks since I've tried the solution above, and so far, zero disconnections from my router.

I hope this helps the rest of you guys out 🙂

I would just like to add that I also am having these same issues with my Envy 360. I've been told it was malware. It's a bad driver. It's my modem or router, and the list goes on. IF, and that is a HUGE IF, it were simply an issue with a modem or router, then why does it not connect to the 4, yes 4, different routers I have tried, or the 2, not one but 2, different mobile hot spots? This doesn't sound like it's any type of error on my part. I have never in my life had as much trouble with a computer as I have with this one. I will be returning for a refund and I will NEVER own amother hp product as long as I live. I've had this laptop for 3 months and haven't even been able to use it. It's absolutely ridiculous!

I tried the steps provided by jmildraws:

No luck, the issue continues to happen. Wifi seems to work and then drops completely. I've updated the drivers and the issue keeps happening.

Has anyone been able to get any updates from HP?

I found a fix.  I opened the laptop up and looked at the wifi card.  The two antenna wires were crossed.  I swapped the posts they were connected to and haven't had a single issue since.

Those wires are primary and secondary antenna wires.  I believe they're cross wired, wrong, while built.

Just bought a HP Envy x360 for my daughter who is going to college.  I had this same problem.

After spending 3 hours with the Geek Squad on the first one, switching it for an new one, and then 4 hours with the second... I think I finally fixed my problem.

My router was set to WEP.  I had set it years ago, and never upgraded it to the newest encryption.  As I replaced routers, I left it on WEP.  I just changed it to WPA2/Personal.  The laptop works like a champ.

Now I get to go around the house and re-entyer the password in all the devices.

Good luck to all of you.
