Hi BHK6,
I successfully installed the wireless button driver update via h[ support assistant but the problem still remains... even if you press for airplane mode it still is in white led..should turn to orange under this mode.

Hi BHK6,
No change in behavior, it's the LED not turning orange that is the difference. It turns orange to let the user know that airplane mode is turned on.
But now you always need to check the taskbar to check.
Hope we resolve the issue soon.

Hi henyo_2. Well if it is orange when you first turn on your notebook, the hardware is at least functioning. I have a Windows 8.1 notebook here (not an HP Envy DV6 7201 TX) and have been trying to recreate the "white only LED" for an hour now. I guess the good news, is that I can only make it work as expected. I have been trying to pinpoint exactly what controls the LED to change when Airplane mode is toggled, but have not been able to find the "magic" that prevents my LED from switching to orange.
This Microsoft document seems to indicate that the function is built into windows, and called upon by the PC Manufacturer.
Airplane mode radio management:

I went through all of the notebook drivers and uninstalled all relevant HP drivers (even the HP Wireless Button Driver) and it still worked right.
I have uninstalled the Intel WiFi drivers, and it still worked for me.
I am using this notebook with an ac adapter. Can you try to recreate with battery power only and charging mode to see if there is a change in behavior?
If that fails, I suggest we uninstall and reinstall any and all networking components (WiFi drivers). (Actually, enter device manager to make sure the miniport drivers are removed under "Network Adapters" before reinstalling)

I also have this problem.
It was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 8.1
Now the wireless LED is briefly orange when you boot-up, but as soon (I guess) as the driver is loaded it turns white. The wireless button functions correctly turning the wireless on and off as exected, no issues there, LED just always white though even when you disable the wireless.
I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers from the HP site, as well as all the latest Win 8.1 updates.
I am running a G6-2318TX HP Pavilion
I note the comment on the BIOS, but little hesitant to start messing around with BIOS updates / downgrades.

Hello everyone,
To try and resolve this issue there are a couple of steps to complete;
1: First update your keyboard drivers. Below is a link to your download page for your drivers from the HP website. Also install the HP Wireless Button driver as well.

2: Ran HP Support Assistant and check for updates

3: Shutdown the PC and then restart it. Use the document below and make sure that your Power Button hasn't been configured to Hibernate instead of shutting down the PC.

4: Check for Windows Updates: Click on the “Do I need to check for updates” to see how to do it manually.
