@ashleycouture,

You can try starting with the document I linked to in my previous post.  It covers the most common issues behind HDMI problems.  The recovery I suggested was more of a diagnosis step more than it was a solution.  Granted, it may very well fix their issue as it may be a software issue.  If it still doesn't work with an out of the box software configuration, then it would be a hardware issue.  It was recommended as they had already tried several steps to isolate the issue.  If the notebooks LCD display still functions (one user in the thread mentioned their LCD doesn't work), then I would ensure that all drivers (chipset/video driver mainly) are updated.  If all items are updated, the HDMI cable is confirmed to be working, and all TVs/monitors do not work with this notebook's HDMI port, then it is starting too look like more of a hardware issue.  By default, connecting an HDMI should product a display on the TV

What is the product number (found by pressing Fn + Esc)?

NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.

I have a HP Pavilion g6-2210us Notebook PC. I did a factory reset and it still not working. I have a warranty so I will get my pc checked out. Thanks

You are most welcome.  Sorry that it didn't turn out to be a software issue.  😞

The warranty service should get it back up and going.  🙂

OK, the weird thing is, after instaling some automatic Windows updates the local profile was all screwed up and when I tried it on an external TV duplicate didnt work - but extend sort of did?  So I did a full factory reset and guess what?

IT DIDNT WORK!!!

So now I have to send it back to HP for them to repair, will let you know what they find out.

I have a similar problem.

Have a new HP Pavilion g6-2206so Notebook PC and an older 24" HP LP2465 LCD monitor.

I connected the monitor using a HDMI/ DVI adapter and the computer recognized it.

After changing the resolution it worked really well.

Then suddenly after 3-4 days I accidently bumped the cord. Not hard at all, but anyway.

I lost the signal to the montor and got it back on the laptop.

After this I get "No signal input".

If I try connecting my Panasonic TV to the HDMI it immidiatly recognizes it and it works fine.

I changed cord - But no change.

The monitor asks me to check the video cable until I plug it in, and after says: "No input signal".

All drivers are updated.

I have Windows 8. Have tested all settings with the monitor options.

Hello Skog,

You’re getting an error NO signal input.

Try to connect the monitor with a different cable not using the port on the monitor that you are using now.

It’s something with the monitor, since you are able to connect the laptop to a TV and everything works correctly.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

Thx for the answer!

I have two contacts on the monitor

I have two DVI-cables.

I tested them both.

Then I tried to connect to an older computer with DVI out.

That worked fine.

The funny is that if I disconnect the monitor from the laptop, the monitor gives me information that the cable is disconnected.

Then when I put it in again, the message comes - No input signal...???

Conclusion;

The monitor works.

The cables works.

The hdmi out from the HP laptop works.

The only thing left is the adapter.

I'm going to change the HDMI/DVI adapter - Perhaps that can be the problem.

Otherwise it's all a mystery to me...

Skog,

That would have to be the problem; everything else seems to be working correctly.

Let me know how everything goes.

I have EXACTLY the same issue, and I don't use an adaptor. I have tried every suggestion on this post and others, and none works. The Laptop, TV and Cable all worked together fine before this issue suddenly arrose - no hardware changes.

The laptop suddenly stopped sending the correct HDMI signal right after a couple of microsoft updates.. rolling back made no difference. So it is either a deeply seated software issue (registry change perhaps), or the hardware spontaneously failed...

THE TV works fine with other computers, as does the HDMI cable. This HP G6 laptop however will no longer output HDMI picture or sound to ANY TV or monitor....

Hello Navy_Doc,

Your computer is not getting an image to your external display.

Try to use the Widows key and the letter P to change to the external display.

Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.

This should reset the hardware in the computer.

As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.

When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.
