Hi,

Some of the keys on my HP Pavilion g6 laptop have stopped working. I have tried switching it off removing the battery etc and this hasn't worked. I have also tried blowing underneath the keys.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The keys which don't work are 2, w, s, x. These are all in a diagonal line on the keyboard. Don't know if this might hint to why it doen't work?

Hi Benbenben, welcome to the HP Forums. Without knowing your model number I will be using the "Pavilion g6-1a69us" as a reference model. This uses Windows 7 as its default operating system. If you require different instructions provide your model number, and the version of Windows installed.

It does sound like a physical issue, use these troubleshooting steps to verify:  Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 7)

How Do I Find My Notebook Model Number

Which Windows operating system am I running?

My mother encountered the same problem with the same keys.  I was able to correct the problem by clicking:

Start - Control Panel - Keyboard

About midway down in the pop-up window is a box "Click here and hold down a key to test repeat rate".  I typed "s" several times then clicked the OK box and closed the control panel.  The 2, w, s, x started working properly.

Unfortunately, this is not a permanent fix.  Every time the computer is started, the above steps have to be performed.
