Wouldn't you know it that I am just outside my 1 year warranty period and my cooling fan goes out. Thank goodness for my daughters computer, but I have not backed up for about 1 week and have so much more on my memory right now and am afraid to continue for fear of the whole compute crashing. I have fixed things on my daughers computer in the past. Are there any suggestions of things I can do before I need to buy a fan and replace it. Really upet that this happened so soon. I have the HP Pavillion G7 laptop. Purchased 9/5/12. Any ideas please.

its now going to cost $300 to fix the cooling fan problem.
i've seen a hp tech guy clean the fans of an exact same laptop right before my eyes - less than an hour to get the hour done!
why do i have to pay 1/3 of the cost of the notebook to get it fixed???
i'm better off getting a sturdy standalone PC.
three short freaking years and that's the end of this notebook!!
lousy product and ridiculous service charges?!

Hi shrek7056,
I see that you are having some fan issues. I will be happy to help. I would suggest that you use the document on cleaning vents and fans that Mrstenter posted above. You are correct that you shouldn't be getting this error with a brand new laptop. The document above doesn't work then you may want to consider having the laptop looked under warranty. You can call HP Total Care a call at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit the link below if you are outside North America.

unfortunately this is a lousy product - my own just 3years and gone! becos of stupid fan problem, 3year old notebook still maintained in great condition but just unusable unless one shells out $300 to have the fans cleaned????!!!
better to top up the dough and get something else which is NOT hp
